Architects Are Everywhere – How to Get Out There

Written by Posted On Friday, 19 June 2015 07:58

Architecture is very appealing. Today, young, ambitious people go to various universities where they can study architecture, get the knowledge and skills required to be a good architect, but, when the time comes to find a job, you realize that there are so many people occupying all the good positions in all the good firms, and you end up doing something random, slowly forgetting everything that you have learned throughout the years. This is the reality, unfortunately. But, do not threat. There is always a solution. In the following piece of text, I will present a plan to you, and you should go through it. It won’t hurt.

The best thing that you can do is open up your own firm. Now, as you might have guessed, this is, as they say, tricky business. A ton of risk is involved and one wrong move might be the end of you. However, if you plan your cards right, you will be able to live the dream – have a job that you like, have a decent regular income, and most important of all, be your own boss.

Let’s get down to brass tacks

The most important thing on your agenda is marketing. You have to get your company and your services properly advertised so that people will notice you – so that you can stand out from the ever growing competition. Now, this is a process and be sure that it will cost you. In fact, you should pay attention to your finances a lot and plan every penny. If you are unable to do that, hire someone to do it for you. Only then will you be able to succeed.

Moving on

Apart from the traditional ways of marketing – these include various promotions as well as TV and radio commercials – you have to keep up with the times. Sure, the great big promotion that you organize in the main street of your hometown will bring you customers, and, yes, people will check your add on TV, but the real deal nowadays is the ever growing and ever powerful internet.

You have to have a website

I will say it again – You have to have a website. Not only do you have to have it, but you have to make sure that it is designed and developed well. This means that when someone enters your site, he or she is immediately drawn to it and wants to explore it. Everything has to load fast, and be logically placed on the page. When I say this, I mean that, for instance, your portfolio page has to be put together with care; your “Services” page has to be concrete and finally – you have to live up to your reputation. Furthermore, having a cool site is not all you need – you have to make sure that people see your website. So, you should strive to be active on various social networks, and you should develop a strong internet community. And, since studies have shown that more people are using mobile phones and tablets than PCs and laptops to go online, you have to make sure that your site is, let’s say, accessible via such a device. Not owning a website is considered a common mistake that small business make in the beginning, so try to avoid that pitfall.

All this can be very fun – being active online and all that – but, if you cannot manage, hire someone to do it for you, which brings us to our final topic:

Outsourcing

A lot of things that every business owner has to go through are not at all related to his or her profession. In order for one person, or a small group of people to do everything, everyone has to either work 24/7, or be a wiz at, well, everything. This is virtually impossible. Students of architecture these days use outsourcing to handle their essays and they even hire dissertation writers. So, hire someone else to do it for you. Hell, you can even hire a firm that deals with promoting an architectural firm specifically. Again, if you organize your budget well, anything is possible.

To wrap up, I hope that this article has helped you. However, I should mention that not all that can be said about how to promote your architectural firm can be said in one article. Well, it can, but I would have to be writing for a long, long time. I advise you to continue clicking, because the internet is full of useful advice, and, what’s more, it is full of potential clients.
