Real Estate Marketing: 7 Lies That Sabotage Your Success

This is Part 2 of this article (see part 1 here ). If you've ever felt yourself procrastinating, so that you have 1 foot on the gas and 1 foot on the brake, then you'll want to read about the last 3 Lies: that sabotage your success.

Lie #5: "Everything I do has to be perfect"

Have you ever wondered if perfectionism is a help or hindrance on the road to success?

1. Perfectionism causes procrastination.

Have you ever had a project that you really wanted to get done but never could quite complete? If you look carefully at what was going on in your mindset, then you will probably see that you wanted to project perfection.

We live in an imperfect world where the idea that perfection is possible is just an illusion. Your desire for perfection can stop you from taking action that is needed.

2. Perfectionism doesn't allow you to be yourself.

If you suffer from perfectionism, it is a good bet that it was part of your programming in your early years. Quite likely you picked up the belief "I have to be perfect to be okay."

I would suggest that you work on discovering your self-limiting beliefs which led to perfectionism. When you bring these to the surface you can release them and replace them with empowering beliefs such as "I am perfectly imperfect, like everyone else."

3. Perfectionism stops you from picking up the phone.

When you are marketing yourself to prospective clients, there is no such thing as rejection. It's simply a match or it's not a match. Your job is to prospect, present your services and keep on the lookout for someone who needs what you have to offer. If they don't need it, it simply isn't a match.

I recommend that you memorize and use this frequently "I have a valuable service to offer and people are happy to hear from me."

Lie #6: "There is never enough money"

What kinds of beliefs were passed down to us about money?

Here are some examples:

  1. There is never enough money.
  2. You need to be very frugal with money.
  3. If you make money, you might lose it.
  4. Rich people are greedy.
  5. Having less money made you more holy or more spiritual.

If you can begin to release the belief that there is never enough money, you can embrace beliefs such as:

  1. I deserve an abundance of money.
  2. Money is everywhere.
  3. I deserve to be wealthy.
  4. God wants me to have an abundance of all good.
  5. I do work that I love and I am richly rewarded.

A good belief to tell yourself is this: "I release my parents' beliefs about money and create my own prosperity thinking."

Lie #7: The economy determines my success

If you believe that you are a victim of economic circumstances, then you will always be at the mercy of outside changes. If you decide to release that belief and begin to believe that you create your circumstances, then you become the Deliberate Creator of your life.

I suggest that you begin installing updated Empowered Beliefs into your mind by learning to say to yourself:

  1. By keeping a positive mindset I attract success.
  2. If it is to be, it's up to me.
  3. I create success in any economy.
