Federal Way sounds like it might be a boulevard in Washington, D.C. but it's actually located near Seattle, Washington, where housing sales are up, say local Realtors.
Says Realtor David Albertson , "Federal Way is a quiet community between Seattle and Tacoma about 20 minutes south of Seatac airport."
"For the year 2004, Federal Way once again enjoyed an increase in homes sold for homes sale priced over $165,000 with three or more bedrooms, one or more bathrooms," says Realtor Del Brown . "Over one thousand homes changed ownership during 2004 in Federal Way, while there were over 900 homes sold in 2003. In Alderbrook there were 30 sold. Twin Lakes sold a few less homes with 140, West Campus saw 56 sales, 39 in Dash Point up from 29 in 2003.
Brown explains, "Some of the nicest homes with Sound views are in Federal Way. Federal Way, is home to the Sea-Tac Mall, The Enchanted Village, The Federal Way Aquatic Center, and my favorite hamburger joint Burger Express, a couple blocks south of the mall on Pacific Hwy. Federal Way boasts some of the most affordable housing prices in the Puget Sound area. The commute is a little longer, but you can get more house for less money here."
Says Realtor Sheila Stanford , "Conveniently located off of Interstate 5, 21 miles south of Seattle and eight miles north of Tacoma, Federal Way is the seventh largest city by population in Washington. The beautiful Puget Sound borders on the West offering home choices with views of the water and distant Olympic mountain range. The South King County area is growing steadily and homeowners are reaping the benefits of appreciation on their investment. However, sellers have fewer buyers competing for their listings right now with interest rates steadily increasing and buyers have less affordable resale housing inventory to choose from."
