Summer is almost here and you might be trying to get a head start on where to begin your beach adventures. With so many different beaches it can be hard to select just one Cape Cod beach. Whether you're planning a family trip, a day trip for you and all your college/high school friends, or a great adventure filled day by the ocean, there is a beach for you! Here are ten of the best Cape Cod beaches broken down according to your group and plans.
For the family of beachgoers:
Head of the Meadow: This beach is secluded, has calmer surf, tons of sandbars for your children to explore, lifeguards and bathrooms. One drawback is that you'll have to make sure you pack a good lunch and lots of snacks, as there is no snack bar.
Mayflower Beach: This bay beach features calm, warm waters, great soft sand, bathrooms, and a snack bar, making it the perfect destination for the whole family.
Old Silver Beach: This beach holds a beautiful view of Buzzards Bay, warm water, and the best sand around. You and your kids or even the grandparents will enjoy spending the day at this beach.
Skaket Beach: This beach features calm waters and plenty of sandbars, making it a great beach for families, especially those with younger children.
For the more active beachgoers:
Chatham Lighthouse Beach: This beach is a great one for the active adult or teen. The beach has dangerous waters so there is no swimming, but it is perfect for those who love to look at something beautiful while taking a run, jog or walk on the shore.
Race Point Beach: This beach features amazing sand and fairly calm waters. It's also not just a great beach to get tan and take a dip at, but it is also a great fishing spot. So if you've been dying to cast your line again, the stripers are waiting for you!
Nauset Beach: This beach features rougher waters, definitely not suited for younger children. If you've got a knack for surfing or boogie boarding, the great waves at this beach are just right for you.
For the young adult beachgoers:
Cahoon Hollow Beach: Featuring a 75ft dune path, and seaside bar called The Beachcomber, this beach attracts a younger crowd, whose mission is to have a fun filled day by the sea.
Ballston Beach: With the great waves that are just a little too rough for young children and soft sand this beach is perfect for teens and young adults who have a knack for swimming, surfing, or boogie boarding.
Craigville Beach aka. ‘Muscle Beach': As a tourist hot-spot, this beach features great sand and waters with nearby restaurants and umbrella and lounge chair rentals. This is one of the more crowded beaches and it gets nickname, Muscle Beach, from the younger, more toned beachgoers it attracts.
