Weight Management at Home

Weight is something that everyone knows or knows about, it tells us how heavy something or someone is. If you get onto the scale, the scale will indicate to you your weight reading the same as when you place food on your kitchen scale to see how heavy it is.

Generally, people look at weight in different ways, some may look at in a good way and others may look at in a very bad way. Most people on earth have different weights as we are not all the same

There are many people who are simply just too skinny and others that are obese. Then you also get our models, whether found on the runway or in magazines that are according to society perfect setting a hard goal for most people to meet.

Well, I don’t agree with society. I believe that each one person is perfect, you just have to be comfortable in your skin (if I may state it that way) and healthy. I mean that once you are healthy and you are happy with yourself, you are perfect and no Photoshop corrected image can tell you when you are healthy or what you should look like.

Trying to be someone else is never going to make you happy. No person on earth should look like a telephone pole to fit in, it is not healthy, if you do, you may be ill and should consult your doctor. Just being yourself and healthy will ensure you fit in with people that feel the same. There are many people on this earth and sure, there will be people that are going to look at you and judge you. However, if you are healthy and happy in your own skin, you don’t need people like that in your life.

On the other hand, if you are too skinny or overweight, as said above, you may have a medical condition that should be looked at. Yes, we all know it’s hard to lose weight, especially once you have been overweight for a long time. The more overweight a person becomes the hard life becomes as you will soon start to battle with everyday tasks. This includes small things like washing your feet or tying your shoes and more.

When you decide that you want to lose weight, set realistic goals, you can for instance not decide that you want to weight 45kg if you are weighing and have weighed a 100kg for more than a year or two. Aim small just to start, look at losing about 20kg first and as you reach your goal, you can set new ones.

Yes, I know, this still seems to be a heavy weight.

However, once you have lost your initial weight, whether 10 or 20kg, you will see that it will make a huge difference and then set a new goal. You must remember, this may take a lot of time, you did not gain the weight overnight, did you? You are going to need to be patient and ask for help, there is nothing wrong with asking for help.

Giving up is the easy way but it will get you nowhere.

Losing weight and maintaining a healthy weight does not imply that you have to go to the gym, sweat yourself to a standstill or pay for expensive diets and starve yourself.

There are many things you can do at home that will help.

Firstly, it is a good idea to look at what you eat, your daily activities, sleep patterns, stress levels and basically, in general, your whole life.

There are a variety of weight management programs and doctors that can assist you with a basic eating plan and exercises. However, you can start today by just reducing or cutting out most sugars from your diet. This will include processed foods, sweets, and cakes. Also, reduce your unhealthy fat intake such as deep-fried foods and takeaway meals. You can’t believe what a difference this will make but believe me it does. Remove these from your diet just for a month and you are sure to see a change.

Yes, exercise is also important for our health but it is not the only thing that needs to change. If you haven’t been very active for a long time, it is very important to take things slow. Yes, life is a rush these days but there are many simple exercises you can do at home and can surely fit into your schedule, even if just a 10 minutes a day.

You need to be able to manage your weight and you can do that at home.

If you have stairs in your house it will be great. You can simply walk up and down the stairs for 10 to 20 minutes a day. Climbing stairs are a very good way to exercise, it offers a great cardio workout while working your legs as well. It does not really matter if your house has a 10 step or a 50 step stairway, you will just move more up and down if you have fewer stairs.

You can even exercise in the tub while bathing you can do some dips. Yet, it will depend on what type of bath you have in your home as you are going to have difficulty when your bath is quite big. However, you can still do dips on the outside before getting in or try some squats in the shower.

Believe it or not, you can even do exercise in your bed. No, not just stretching or sleeping, you can do leg raises, crunches, or if you like, Russian twists. These can be done on the floor if you prefer, but what makes this nice, is you can actually lay on your bed and do them before you go to sleep or when you awake. Leg raises can also be done on the sofa while watching your favorite program.

There are multiple exercises that you can do at home, yet, many will be dependent on the structure of your home. In a doorway or passage, you can mount pull-up bars or add a small home trampoline to your lounge. However, always first ensure the structure of your home is solid before making such changes.
