I can't believe July 4th weekend is almost here. This year's weather has been so weird. While we've had some beautiful months in May and June, June has been a bit cooler than usual, so it kind of feels like early May now. I don't mind it because it has been very niced and comfortable. But, usually it already feels like summer and swimming weather.
That's why it's really hard to believe that July 4th weekend is almost here. And, this year July 4th is in the middle of the week on a Wednesday. So, that means the festiviities, fireworks and vacations really start around Friday 7/29. I put together the whole schedule of fireworks for Westchester County NY in this blog post We have a lot of them in our area, and have to see the areas that are along the Hudson River and Long Island Sound are extra beautiful. There are also many cruises planned as well.
Oh, and here's an extra bit of trivia. Do you know the half way point for the year? It's actually July 2nd! So July 4th also kind of commemorates the midway point for the year. (not June 30th). Oh, and another piece of trivia. Even though it may not seem this way, summer is longer than winter...just by a few days. That's because the earth is a bit further away from the sun in the summer (in the northern hemisphere) so it takes it a bit longer to traverse the area. And, if you count up the days of summer vs he days of winter, you'll see that this is true.
I love the summer, and really dislike (can I say hate?) the winter, so this is a good thing, in my opinion.
Anyway, I hope you have a wonderful 4th of July week.
