St. James Long Island is an unincorporated Hamlet and was one of the earliest settlements in the Town of Smithtown. Most of the larger homes are North of Route 25A and bordering the Nissequogue River. More modest homes are situated near the shopping district by Lake Avenue. This lovely quaint area is mostly a suburban Suffolk County community with individual home sites.
