3 Reasons Why Mobile Homes are Becoming the Next "BIG" Thing

If you told me twenty years ago that mobile homes would become a preferred choice of housing to many in the future, I would’ve chuckled. In fact, I would've outright laughed out loud. Mobile homes. You know, those homes that have been the butt of jokes and ridicule for ages. Well, it seems that statistics prove that interest in these homes have been on the rise since 2011. In fact, I found this interesting, so I did a little research of my own. What I discovered is that mobile homes offer much more than I had originally thought. It actually blew my mind. And this is why...

1. Cost

According to HomesDirect.com, the average square foot price for manufactured homes is $50 versus $94 for a conventional site-built home. This is up to 30 percent less compared to site-built homes. So, what can you expect to pay for a newly manufactured mobile home in 2017? Check this out:

  • $86,900-$83,200 for a home with more than two sections;

  • $50,000-$42,500 for a Single-Wide;

  • $96,100-$97,000 for a Double Wide.

The difference in cost of these mobile homes, compared to site-built homes is almost half per square foot: Now that's a difference!

 2. Less Time to Build

If you are anything like me, you hate waiting for things. Impatient? Very. So, when you choose the mobile home route, you can expect less time to wait. If you decide to build a home from scratch, it can take a minimum of 6 months to complete. On the other hand, you can order a mobile home and have it delivered within 6 weeks. Once the mobile home is delivered, it can be assembled on your permanent foundation fast and easy. I like easy.

 3. Safety and Design Perks

We have all seen those shoddy, rusty mobile homes lining those back roads that look like they barely survived the apocalypse. Well, those hot messes are a thing of the past. Today, mobile homes are manufactured with energy-efficient doors and windows, fire-resistance materials, real roofs, crown moulding, marble showers, granite countertops and more! Imagine luxury at it’s finest. That’s the mobile home of today. In fact, many of the country’s wealthiest and top celebrities have been known to purchase and live in mobile homes. Take a moment to Google “Paradise Cove Mobile Park in Malibu”. Some of these mobile homes go for over $3 million buck-a-roos. Need I say more?

We are living in a world where people want to live a less-expensive, easier, not-tied-down kind of life. A life where less is more. With mobile home living, you get just that. More bang for your buck, a smaller area to upkeep and a home that can be relocated to anywhere at anytime. You know what….I might just get on this mobile home train. Maybe you should too!
