As if this needs any explanation!  South Walton has 26 miles of sugar-white sandy beaches that border gorgeous turquoise water in the Gulf of Mexico.  For the adrenaline junky, the normally calm waters can churn up great surfing waves when there’s a tropical storm brewing.  Each beach offers up its own special personality.  Maybe you want to be surrounded by brilliant-white homes with the feel of Bermuda, or the cinderblock cottages families have been enjoying since the 1940s.  If natural beauty is your thing, South Walton beaches offer that as well.

Choose from one of 16 beachside neighborhoods to find the one with the personality that best matches your own.  You may want to live in a romantic small town or a modern neighborhood.  If you prefer to be surrounded by nature, or feel like you’re in the Mediterranean, there is a neighborhood for you.

Numerous art galleries are found along 30A. Folk art to fine art - there is something for every taste. There are the requisite painters who are always found where beauty resides.  However, South Walton also offers artists who work in glass, and in clay. Fine crafts and photography round out the selection.  You can relax at the end of the day with live music, or check out a show at the Repertory Theater.

When it comes to golf, there are nearly as many options as there are for the beach.  Golf Digest has given the Windswept Golf Club a 4 Star rating.  The course offers dune-lined fairways and 18 Championship holes, or maybe you would rather hit the links surrounded by native plants and wildlife at the Camp Creek Golf Club.  

Shopping in Style

In addition to the traditional outlets and mall stores, South Walton offers unique shopping opportunities.  Looking for art? For a one-stop shop, head to Seaside’s Ruskin Place to find a one-of-a-kind piece and maybe even meet the artist who created it. Many other galleries are scattered throughout the downtown centers, where you can also find a variety of eclectic boutiques.

What’s your passion? Hiking, biking, kayaking, fishing… you have plenty of choices with 4 state parks, 15 rare coastal dune lakes, and a state forest to choose from.  South Walton offers plenty of opportunities to connect with nature.
