Make the Most of Your Home’s Outdoor Living Spaces

After a wild winter that brought record amounts of snowfall to parts of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, being able to get outside and feel the sun on your face again is an extra-special delight. And where better to relax and enjoy the outdoors than your own backyard?

To make the most of the wonderfully warm spring and early-summer weather, think about ways you can enhance your outdoor living spaces for maximum comfort and usability. Here are some ideas to get you started.

Clean everything. Winter probably left a layer of grime everywhere, so take the time to wipe off your patio furniture, sweep the floors and knock loose any cobwebs that accumulated to make your space as inviting as possible.

Install or upgrade your outdoor lighting. The days are growing longer, but it’s nice to be able to linger outside even after the sun sets. Putting in some strategically placed yard lights is a simple do-it-yourself project that lets you take advantage of every possible moment outdoors.

Put in a firepit. Is there anything better than summer nights spent sitting around a fire, roasting marshmallows and telling stories? Buy a ready-made firepit or build your own, surround it with comfortable seating and you’re ready for summer.

Add a water feature. Whether it’s a bubbling fountain or an elegant koi pond, a water feature provides soothing sounds and visual interest to your outside living space.
