One of the easiest ways to make your home more appealing to potential buyers is to boost your curb appeal. The best part? It doesn’t have to take up too much of your time or money. Here are 10 ways you can increase curb appeal this weekend.

1. Maintain your lawn

One of the first things people notice about your house is the lawn. Be sure to keep it well manicured, fertilized, and trimmed. Try mowing early in the morning (this can help keep the grass healthier) and removing any weeds and crabgrass.

2. Pressure wash your home’s exterior

Pressure washing is one of the most noticeable things you can do to improve your home’s exterior. By washing away all of the dirt and grime, your home will look like it has a fresh coat of paint on it. While you’re at it, consider pressure washing the driveway and removing any dirt from the cracks and crevices.

3. Paint your front door

What could be easier than giving your front door a fresh coat of paint? Go for a bright yellow or a deep red. If bold colors aren’t your thing, opt for a neutral, like black, white, or soft beige.

4. Trim branches and hedges

In line with keeping your lawn well manicured, be sure to trim your trees to prevent old or weak branches from falling and causing injury or damaging property. The best time to trim branches is in late winter or early in the spring. If there are branches that are too large or dangerous to cut, consider hiring a professional to help you.

5. Kill weeds

If you want a simple project to do this weekend, target any and all weeds on your front lawn. Use a natural solution made up of water, vinegar, and dish soap, or go for a chemical sprayer.

6. Repair the garage door

Your garage door is one of the biggest things that a potential home buyer will see when they arrive at your house. If the garage is faulty or has trouble opening and closing, get it repaired under your home warranty. You could also consider getting it repainted to make it look brand new.

7. Put down mulch

If you have shrubs, flowers, or trees in your yard, put down a fresh layer of mulch. This will help prevent weed growth, conserve moisture, and add nutrients to your soil. You can buy a bag of mulch for just $2–$10.

8. Clean your gutters

Gutters should be cleaned once in the spring and once in the fall. If not, a buildup of leaves and other debris can cause the gutter to drain poorly and potentially cause it to warp from built-up sludge.

9. Plant flowers

One of the easiest ways to increase the curb appeal of your home is to plant flowers in your yard. Marigolds are some of the easiest flowers to maintain—they’re simple to grow and act as a great companion plant for other flowers. If you don’t have a lot of yard space, consider hanging planter boxes from your windows to give the exterior of your home a pop of color.

10. Hide your air conditioning unit

If you have an outdoor AC unit, you know how much of an eyesore it can be. Fortunately, it can be covered up with lattice or greenery. If you’re handy, you could even build a small fence around the unit to obscure it from view.
