A smart home is not a very new concept, but many people still have not adopted this completely yet. People are aware of the basic home alarm and security system but not many have understood the full potential of what smart sensors can do for you.

We have listed five sensors which you must install to make your house a complete smart home;

1. Motion Sensor:

The motion sensor is often related to the home security system where any intrusion in your property can trigger an alarm.

But motion sensors have more use than just for security purposes. You can integrate motion sensors with smart lights. Motion triggers the lights to switch on in a room, corridor or front porch.

The motion sensor can also be used for the safety of your child or pets if they come close to dangerous areas in your house such as the swimming pool.

Another interesting application of the motion sensor is accelerated sensing which can trigger the opening and closing of your garage doors and gates.

2. Doorbell Sensor

Doorbell sensor is similar to the motion sensor, the only difference is that it is a modern-day peep a hole. As soon as someone steps close to your door, even if they do not press the doorbell, you will get a live video feed from your doorstep.

3. Temperature Sensor

A temperature sensor is another device which helps regulate many functioning in a smart home. A temperature sensor placed outside can control the garden smart devices by triggering the smart sprinklers if the temperature crosses a threshold.

A temperature sensor inside the home can sense the temperature and if it is too hot, turn on the air conditioning 15 minutes before you come back home or crack up the thermostat 20 minutes before your alarm goes off in a cold morning.

A pipe burst in winter due to freezing temperatures is quite common which can cause a huge sum to repair. Setting up a Probeless Temperature sensor to monitor the temperature and crack up the thermostat to avoid plumbing damages can save a lot of effort and expenditure.

4. Light Sensor

Accidentally leaving lights on is quite common which leads to an unnecessary huge electricity bill. This can be easily avoided by setting up smart light sensors which turns on during dusk and turns off during dawn. These sensors can make your home energy efficient.

5. Water Sensor

Water damages are quite common in houses which requires a huge amount to get it fixed. A smart way is to just install a water sensor to alert if there is a water leak or flooding of the floor, which is not costly but saves a lot of damage costs.
There are so many sensors out there that can be added to this list that sometimes it becomes difficult to choose what is needed and which is not really required. Start with the sensors mentioned above and if after a while you feel you need to add a few more smart features; you can always get new sensors and integrate them with your existing smart home.
