One of the vital things that you should take note on your overhead garage door is the chain tension. Because of frequent use, chains tend to loosen that can be a threat to the safety of your family members and vehicle because these may slip from the sprocket and fall down instantaneously.
Before you do the adjustment, disconnect the garage door from the garage door opener. Make sure that it is closed. Using the two adjustment nuts and the threaded shaft located on the inner trolley adjust the tension located on the left-hand side of the rail. Use the outer nut to loosen the chain. If it needs tightening, turn the outer nut to raise the chain. If it reaches midpoint of the rail, secure it by tightening the inner nut.
Make sure that you don’t adjust the tension too tightly because over tightening can lead to breakage of the shaft and gears. You can consult an expert garage door repair technician if you are unsure of the correct tension setting.
