The real estate market in America is big and will always be big. Homes are the biggest assets of most people in America today so getting a good one is crucial if you want to set financially. As we are currently in a sellers' market, most home prices today are inflated and bound to come down during a buyers market or even the next economic downturn. If you currently have a house and have been wondering when would be a good time to sell it, now would be a good time. The only bad thing is not many buyers are in the market due to the high prices. This is why you must create appeal in your home and make it stand out from the others. In today's article, I am going to be breaking how to do just that.
1. The little things.
Home sellers tend to focus on the big things when they are trying to sell their home. By doing this, they overlook the small details that buyers make out when they are looking at the home. These can be things like a broken doorknob, a cracked tile, peeling paint, dead spots in the yard, etc. The great news about these things is most of them are not that hard to fix. Fixing these is relatively cheap compared to the perceived value you will add to your home.
2. Clean, clean, and more cleaning
I know this one seems obvious but sellers tend to overlook it. Having and maintaining a clean house is crucial if you want to even come close to the price you are asking for. Think about it. If the majority of homes on the market are clean and yours isn't, what is that going to do to your house's perceived value? You guessed it. It is going to drop. Depending on how dirty your home is determines whether you can do the cleaning yourself or not. In the end, I would always recommend hiring a professional cleaning crew to detail your home. In the end, this is going to give your house the best possible chance of standing out.
3. Curb Appeal
The outside of your house is what 99% of the population is going to see when you own your home so it's important to make it look nice, especially if you are getting ready to sell it. This creates the first impression that every potential home buyer is going to see. Make sure shrubs are trimmed, the lawn is cut, and flowers are watered. There are many other things to this but don't stress yourself out. You may hire a landscaping crew to help you with this if you want to dramatically increase your curb appeal. Need a new roof? Consider hiring crane companies or a roofer to install a new roof for you depending on your circumstance.
4. Neutral Paint
We've all walked into those disgusting homes with wallpaper from decades ago or even paint jobs that are completely out of style. There is really no need for this. To appeal to as many buyers as possible, you must select a neutral paint that most buyers will like. Some of the paints that come to mind would be white, off white, or even very light brown or grat as these open up the house and make it roomier.
5. Declutter
It is very normal in today's day and age to have too much stuff. Just like paint, this excess personalization can really turn off home buyers. Clutter can make your home look small and even dirty. If, for instance, you are a collector, consider getting a storage unit or putting the items somewhere other than your house for the time being. In the end, a more spacious home is seen as a plus to almost all buyers. This can really add up to put more money in your pocket over the long haul.
