Being involved in the real estate industry for several years, I have learned one valuable lesson. Never DIY anything! I know, I know DIY is a huge trend in almost every industry. There are tutorials for pretty much everything. Pinterest is the King of making you feel like you can do everything even if you probably shouldn't.

Okay, I'm being a bit facetious when I say not to do anything yourself but honestly there are a few things that I really recommend you leave up to the experts.

Types of things I personally recommend you leave to a professional are as follows:

Selling Your Home

I know you might think that I am just trying to protect my own job as a real estate agent and in some ways you might be right. However, I've seen multiple deals go south pretty quick. Drafting up purchase and sale agreements are kind of a big deal. Real estate agents have the expertise to look over the agreement and make adjustments that protect you.

Major Home Repairs

Go ahead, paint the walls yourself. Hang your own curtains but please, if there are major structural issues reach out to a contractor! Find someone who can help you. Too many DIYers have caused themselves a lot of pain both physically and financially.

Moving

Now this one might raise some eyebrows but hear me out. You always hear older people complaining about their back. There are a lot of contributing factors causing back and other joint pain but one of them has to be unwise lifting when they were younger. Imagine if everyone either avoided incorrect heavy lifting or did it correctly how much better our physical health might be when we are older. There are plenty of companies based around just helping people relocate. Seriously, call the moving experts and save your back.

I beg of you to consider my recommendations. Save yourself some pain.
