Picking a property involves weighing up a lot of factors, and the safety of the neighborhood is often a priority, especially for families.

The city of Manchester is like many other urban areas in that some parts are safer than others, so if you are hunting for an apartment and you want to live somewhere with minimal crime and a positive vibe, here are the places to start your search.

Deansgate

With a mix of Manchester apartments and other types of housing, in addition to plenty of local amenities and a history that stretches back for centuries, Deansgate is a hotspot for young families as well as professionals who work centrally.

Aside from being safe and welcoming, Deansgate is also a neighborhood that offers excellent transport links for getting around the rest of the city, as well as further afield. So however you live your life, it should serve you well from day to day.

Didsbury

You might expect a place with such a quaint name to be safe, and in the case of Didsbury, you’d be right! From the hustle and bustle of the eateries and accommodation of Didsbury village, to the quality schooling available to the east of the neighborhood, there are several subsections of this area, each of which has its own assets and unique charm.

It’s no surprise that family-focused housing in Didsbury is in high demand, whether you want an apartment or a house, so be prepared to face a bit of competition regardless of whether you intend to rent or buy property here.

Sale

Ranked nationally as a highly sought-after area, Sale is technically a town in its own right, although it sits within the bounds of Greater Manchester, and is arguably the jewel in its crown.

Like many of its neighboring areas, Sale blends the old with the new, both in terms of its architecture and its culture. It is a thoroughly established, well-heeled place to be, and so families will definitely feel safe and sound here, so long as they are comfortable with the higher property prices and rental fees that this inevitably leads to.

Spinningfields

Not all families are looking for the suburban lifestyle, in which case the allure of Spinningfields will definitely grab your attention.

You can walk from this neighborhood to the heart of Manchester in a matter of minutes, and its central location is ideal for people who don’t want to spend hours a day commuting to and from the office.

As you’d expect, there’s lots to see and do in this downtown utopia, and because it is so central, it is also comparatively safe because of the amount of scrutiny that it gets from the authorities.

Castlefield

Like Spinningfields, this is a fairly central neighborhood, but in place of the modern high-rise apartments you’ll be more likely to find accommodation that has been adapted from old-school factories, along with lots of appealing and unusual sights, such as the canals of Manchester’s industrial era.

Once again, it’s a case of modernity meeting the more historic aspects of the city, and for certain families it will be ideal.

Ancoats

An up and coming, central neighborhood with a diverse array of properties to consider, Ancoats feels like a special place to be.

There’s definitely an air of trendiness about the place, but with ample cafes and restaurants it can also keep families fed and watered.

And of course it’s best to visit a neighborhood for yourself to see if you gel with it, as there’s no point rushing into a property-based decision in Manchester or anywhere else.
