A new survey has revealed the smells which could make someone more likely to buy your home, which is great news for anyone looking to sell their house.
Online retailer My Virtual Coffee House carried out a survey of over 3000 adults to find out what made the difference between making an offer or walking away. A massive 84% of those surveyed revealed that the smell of the house was a huge influence in their buying decision.
When asked which smells were a positive influence on their viewing experience, 41% said that the smell of freshly baked bread definitely improved their outlook.
Fresh coffee or ground coffee was the second most liked smell, with 37% of those surveyed saying that the smell of fresh coffee influenced their buying decision.

‘The research clearly shows that vendors really do need to avoid certain smells when trying to sell a property, but the flip side is that by using the appropriate scents, you can turn a maybe in to a yes for a lot of buyers.’
‘Bread makers and coffee machines are not expensive and can be found in most kitchens, so there is no reason why any agent would not use these to improve the chances of a sale by leaving a good impression.’
A tip for that quick coffee smell
