Historic homes for sale in San Jose

When you're in the market for a historic home, one of the places you should consider looking at is the Downtown district of San Jose. This area has a long, rich history, both architecturally and commercially, when San Jose was made into the state's first capital.

The downtown area still retains the highest number of old properties compared to other cities of California. Though many of the original structures have been destroyed due to old age and renovations, there are still plenty of well-preserved structures which showcase San Jose's amazing past. Many of these structures are homes, and they can be found mainly in areas like Naglee Park and Japan town.

Whether you're a history buff or you just prefer older homes, you'll surely find a home to like. Check them out : historic homes for sale in Downtown San Jose.

What architectural style do you prefer?

Some buyers have a preference for a Victorian home. Others like the Craftsman style. Still, others have no distinct architectural preference, as long as it is a vintage home. Do you have a preferred architectural style?

You'll find that there are different home styles in Downtown San Jose. There are newly remodeled Victorian style homes, Mediterranean style homes, Spanish style homes, Italianate style homes and the traditional style homes.

If you don't have a particular preference but would instead purchase property based on your budget, you'll find that the prices for homes for sale range from $550,000 up to more than a million, depending on the square footage and lot cut.

Home features you will find in many of the historic homes here.

You won't find a vintage home under $500,000 here in San Jose. Many of the historic homes range in price from $550,000 to over $2 million.

Homes under the $1 million price tag feature 2 to 3 bedrooms, and 1-3 bathrooms. Some homes, especially those in the $550,000 - $600,000 range, require some love and attention. The rest of the homes within that price range are move-in ready and feature hardwood floors, upgraded kitchens, new countertops and appliances, and modern bathrooms. A few even have security systems installed.

There are very few single-family homes in the over $1 million range. Most homes in this price range are multi-family homes, where you can find a house with several studios or bedroom apartments inside.

These homes are fully renovated and packed with all the modern conveniences.  The homes are newly painted; there are new gas furnaces, fully remodeled bathrooms, and new appliances in the fully renovated kitchens.

These multi-family dwelling historic homes are perfect if you are an investor.  You can live in one unit and rent out the others.

No matter what your budget range or architectural style preference may be, you’ll be sure to find a historic vintage home here in downtown San Jose.
