The Five Easiest Ways to Impress Buyers and Boost a Home's Value

When you are trying to sell your home, you want to do things that will boost its value and impress buyers while not getting involved with costly, complicated renovations. Here are five easy (and inexpensive) ways to impress buyers and boost a home's value.

A Better Bathroom

Bathrooms are one of the most important rooms in the house when it comes to selling your home, but you don't have to spend thousands to remodel to improve your bathroom. Simple things such as replacing the fixtures or changing out the shower curtain and rugs can improve the look and make it more appealing to buyers.

Kitchen Upgrades

Just like bathrooms, kitchens are important rooms when buyers are considering a home. And just as with bathrooms, you can make small upgrades that can make a big difference. Changing fixtures, lighting and cabinet hardware are all things you can do yourself for a couple hundred dollars or less. If you want to get a little more involved, you can paint or reface your cabinets.

Decluttering

One of the biggest mistakes many sellers make is failing to clean out the clutter. Potential buyers can't gauge the amount of storage space in a closet, basement room or garage if junk is piled high there. In addition to giving your home a thorough cleaning before putting it on the market, declutter as well. Clutter can also make rooms feel smaller, so decluttering these will show buyers just how much space they’re getting. If some rooms in your home still feel cramped, a specialist from Gilkey Windows says installing larger windows can make a space feel roomier. This will also let in more natural light, something which buyers love to see.

A Fresh Coat of Paint

Buyers typically like move-in ready homes, and one aspect of those homes is walls that are painted neutral colors. If you have bright or dark colors in your room or you have an accent wall painted a funky color, you can impress buyers and boost your home's value by painting over it with a neutral color. Earth tones, such as tan, cream and light brown are best.

Spruce Up The Shrubbery

Many home sellers spend a lot of time making sure the inside of the home is perfect and forget about the outside. But the outside is the first thing buyers see. You want to make sure you clean up any brush, trim trees and patch up your lawn. You also should pay attention to the outside, and fix broken gutters, shingles and anything else that hurts the look of the home.

As these tips show, adding value to your home and impressing potential buyers doesn't have to cost a lot of money.
