Accidents happen in a blink of an eye before you wipe your eyes, it has already happened. We all know we should be more careful in life but it’s not always possible. It is not so easy when life throws you with lemon to make lemonade. For some people, it’s in their nature to be reckless while others do not always think before doing something. However, sometimes there just is no time to think, thus, we just need to react.

Well, I want to tell you a story of this girl I knew who had such a wild character. She was one of those people who really did not give much thought to the opinion of people and the world. Neither did she care what happened or consider the consequences of her actions. I truly believe that everything she did was done with recklessness.

Obviously, as a friend, I always tried to stop her from doing a stupid thing but she never truly listened to me. She always believed that everything will be fine in the end. However, she discovered that it does not always end well.

We were about 17 when something happened that changed her mind. She actually realized that she has to be more careful when doing certain things.

You see, her parents had a house at the lake and one weekend she decided she wants to have a big party there. I think the biggest problem was that her parent never said no, she always done what she wanted. This lake house was amazing, it was a real beauty of a house and surely a couple million bucks.

It was a double story with two floors and an incredible half circle staircase going to the second floor. The staircase was long as the two floors were about 10 meters apart but the stair was not that steep. You see, they had a slight upward increase with each step, the steps were close together. At the bottom where the stairs ended was a longish passage to the front door and at the top of the stair was a shorter passage to the main bedroom but enough space to get a running start out of.

The top floor had three more rooms exiting on the sides of the passage. The entire house was tiled with the loveliest beige colored tiles. The walls had a rough texture and were painted beige to fit with the tiles.

If you walked into the house through the front door you saw the staircase and two doors exiting on each side of the passage. The left one led to the lounge and the right one took you into the kitchen. In the lounge, there was another door that leads to two more spare bedrooms. Each room was a slightly different shade of beige portraying an elegant and stylishness that was almost entrancing. Most of the furniture was also shades of beige and light brown. One would think that it was a bit much, yet, it never seems to be.

But, the reason for my story is about the weekend that my friend decided to turn the staircase into a slimy slide. Her parents were out of town for the weekend and early on Saturday morning, she decided it was time for a house party. We called all our friends and invited them over. Around 4 that afternoon the fun started and after a couple of spiked drinks, we were all in for any kind of fun and excitement.

She came up with a quite daring idea to turn the staircase into a slip a slide. All the doors on the bottom floor had rubber pieces at the bottom so the little bit of water and slim could not go into those rooms and clean-up would be a breeze. We used a slime liquid mix she had seen on the internet the week before and covered the stairs with it. Once done each person grabbed a towel and the fun started. Each person got a chance to go down and all went well the entire time, that is until my friend’s second turn on the slide.

Now, I am sure that the problem was that she did not go alone. She and another friend decided it would be more fun going down together. This might have been okay if they didn’t decide to run and jump. They came down with such a fast speed and everyone was cheering and going wild but I knew and all I could think was that this is not going to turn out well.

The entire afternoon we had kept the front door closed as that was how everyone stopped themselves. Everyone there knew and used the side doors for coming and going. However, we did not count on her brother coming home as he was going to stay the weekend with his girlfriend. But he did and as she was moving in closer to the door, it opened.

She and this friend got to the bottom so fast they were basically on top of the door when it opened the and she went into the doors side face first. Yes, this was quite sore and what made it even worse was the fact that just a month before, she got braces. All I saw as she sat up was the blood streaming from her mouth and screamed as most girls seem to do when seeing blood, not sure why but we do. Well, her brother got her into the car and off to the ER we went. After that slam in the door, she had knocked most of her brackets loose and had two broken teeth.

That day she learned a very hard lesson as she would now have to wear the braces for longer, plus, she also needed to get dental implants. She was in so much pain for many weeks after that accident. But, at least she never attempted to do something like that again.

So, the moral of the story is to never think you can be as reckless as you want, life has a way of showing you where you are wrong. Usually, it doesn’t do it in easy ways.
