Curled/Cracked Shingles

When the shingles are cracked, curled, or absent, then you should understand that it is time to replace your shingles. When most shingles are affected, you can consider a replacement.

Dark, Wet, and Dirty Shingles

If your shingles are trapping moisture, then they are not functioning fine. The wetness is the indication that it is the time for the replacement.

Shingle Granules are in Gutters

Asphalt or composite shingles start to shed their granules when they are in poor condition.  These damaged granules are often found in gutters. These granules will look like black and coarse sand.

If you find rain in your attic, then this is the sign that your roof needs some attention. You can simply replace some flashing to fix the issue. But if it is caused by the porous deployment, you might need a roof replacement.

Sagging Roof Deck

If rafter or decking in the attic is sagging downward, then you need to check your roof. The deck should remain straight. A sagging deck is the result of the leaking moisture. If you have used a local deck, you can replace those parts instead of going for a complete replacement.

Outside Light in the Attic

The presence of exterior light in an attic is the indication of the poor roof. When you see streams of outside light in your attic, then you should understand water can enter inside of attic through the same opening. You will have to check shingles to find out the damaged one.  

Spending More on Energy

If you notice a sudden increase in your air conditioner or heating bill,  that means the warm or cool air is leaking to inside through the roof. You need to address the ventilation issue to drop your cooling and heating expenses.
