Refilling Pool After Draining

Written by Posted On Wednesday, 12 June 2019 14:19

Draining the pool is an important part of pool maintenance. There are many factors that lead to the draining of the pool. It can be either because of the TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) in the swimming pool. TDS increases when you lose the balance of the pool water. For that, you have to add more chemicals and that is completely unnecessary. But you have to concentrate on refilling pool after draining as well. You need to make sure that when you are refilling the water back, the chemical balance is perfect in the newly refilled water. For draining the pool, you should not use the pool pump at all. You have to purchase or rent a submersible pump for draining the pool.

Refilling Pool After Draining - Tips to Follow

Once you have drained out the water completely from the pool and there is no water left in the pool, you have to start refilling it. But before that, if you want to clean the walls of the swimming pool, then you can definitely do that. You need to refill the pool with the help of the garden hose. With the help of two hoses, you can fill up the pool quite quickly. It takes 14 to 16 hours normally to refill the pool with the help of 2 hoses. Here are some steps or tips for refilling:

  1. Before you start, you have to estimate the amount of time that is required for filling the pool with the help of the hoses you have. This will depend on the shape of the pool, as well as the depth of the pool. It is better to leave the pump overnight so that it can get filled. You do not have to supervise the entire refilling as it may take a long time.

  2. Make sure the water is flowing and everything is perfect. Though there is no need to stand there and watch the pool getting refilled, you need to check sometime whether or not the pump is working and the water is flowing.

  3. After the refilling is done, you have to wait for some time as it will allow the water to settle. After a few hours, you can add the essential additives and chemicals to maintain the proper pH level and alkalinity of the pool.

In conclusion

So, these are some of the essential steps and tips that you have to remember while refilling pool after draining. But before you start draining, you have to make sure that you take some essential steps. You have to check with the local municipality and let them know when and where you are going to drain the pool. You have to remove the trippers too from the pump as well as the pool lights before you start the process of draining. You must drain the pool when the temperature of the air outside is less than 85 degrees Fahrenheit. All these are important things that you have to remember and abide by. You cannot take these lightly. You need to make sure that you are draining the swimming pool or refilling the swimming pool abiding by all the laws and rules.
