How to Control Mice Problem in Your House? familyhandyman.com

Homeowners dread to find mouse droppings. It’s not pleasant for anyone involved and certainly, it’s something which must be taken care of immediately. You can’t have a mouse running around, it’s not healthy or hygienic and often, it’ll lead to more. However, controlling the mouse problem isn’t easy either, because you often do the wrong things. Sometimes, you can believe the problem will resolve itself over time when in reality, it won’t. So, how to control the mice problem in your home?

Prevention Is A Must!

If you prevent mice from entering the home, that’s half the battle and often, enough to control the issue at hand. Essentially, prevention means taking steps to stop the mice from being able to get inside the home no matter how much they try. There are many things you can do to prevent them from getting in; things such as:

  • • Repairing Damages to the Property and Sealing Gaps.
    • Spraying Kitty Litter near Entranceways.
    • Keeping the Garden Tidy and Free-From Overflowing Trash.
    • Removing Easy Food Sources for Mice.

All of these things can be useful to prevent mice from being attracted to the home and getting in. Sometimes, prevention is the better solution to the problem because if the mice are prevented from getting in, there won’t be any pest control problems to worry about inside the home!

Add a Screen to Your Doors

A lot of the time, mice enter when they see an open door or window, and during hot summer months, you’re tempted to leave the backdoor open to let air in. Also, when you’re taking things out to the car, the door is left wide-open and that’s an open invitation to the mice. To control the mouse problem, you may want to add a screen to the door. This makes it harder for the mouse to enter, and you could even spray around the screen and door with peppermint oil. Peppermint oil for mice problem can work a treat at the best of times. Also, even if you aren’t using a screen, spraying the oil could be useful.

Keep the Home Dry

Moisture sites are an ideal breeding ground for mice and rats (not to mention other pests) and that can be an attractive feature for a mouse to enter your home. However, if you have issues with leaky pipes you must get them fixed. As said above, all repairs must be carried out, even plumbing problems, so that the home is kept safe. Also, keep all areas ventilated but dry, including crawl spaces and basements. If you wanted to take the extra precaution, use peppermint oil for mice problem to control where they go.

Act Fast

When you spot the first signs of mice, act fast. You need to take control of the situation, whether it’s an isolated incident or something much more serious. Sometimes, you have to be prepared to spend and do a little more to make the home safe to prevent any mice from being an issue. When you see signs of mice or rats, take action.
