Mercer Island, located in King County and within the Seattle metro area sits right in the southern portion of Lake Washington. While it is an island community, it is connected by I-90 and other bridges, providing those living in this area easy access into the community itself. Mercer Island is home to about 22,700 people, making it one of the most populated islands in the United States. It also has the fifth highest per capita income in the state. There are plenty of reasons to live and work within this community.One of the key advantages of living on Mercer Island is the extensive parkland that is available here. Luther Burbank park is the largest, spanning some 77 acres of land as well as sitting on nearly a mile of waterfront. There’s a fantastic pier here for fishing and a boat dock. Aubrey Davis Park is a secondary option with tennis courses, basketball courts, and picnic areas. Smaller parks are available in the region as well. Pioneer Park is nearby and spans 113 acres with bike and hiking trails as well as an equestrian trail.
Those living on Mercer Island always have something to do. There are various galleries here, as well as art centers, performing arts venues and of course outstanding opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Individuals can explore the wine country present here and spend some time at the nearly Seattle Art Museum. Fishing and water sports are common throughout the area as well.Still, the community also offers all of the needs residents with schools, recreational amenities, outstanding open green space, spacious commercial and retail centers, and numerous dining options. The community does have a strong tourism pull to it, but with its access to the waterfront and to Seattle’s many amenities, it offers something for just about everyone.
