San Francisco remains a popular destination for people moving from California and New York who find the surrounding views, local architecture and growing tech startup scene to be attractive.
Partly because of its proximity to the growing number of technology companies moving into the area, Soma makes the top of the list of neighborhoods in San Francisco. Many businesses are close-by and a baseball team also plays locally.
The Mission District has a more urban feel to it which is in contrast to other parts of San Francisco. Due to its Brooklyn-like atmosphere, it often is an area that New Yorkers consider moving into.
The Lower Haight neighborhood is little like “the Village” in New York because of its creative bent. Artists and other creative people can often be found here. Lower Haight hits the 3rd spot.
Russian Hill is something of a picture-postcard location with great spots to snap off a few selfies to share on Facebook, especially in busy Lombard Street. However, it is also popular with locals and makes it to number 4.
Nob Hill holds a high position in San Francisco with some of the steepest roads which requires a powerful vehicle to drive up and a good set of brakes to drive back down again. Rental prices for furnished apartments and houses are high in the area yet it still holds the fifth position.
The other neighborhoods of Hayes Valley, Potrero Hill, Noe Valley, Pacific Heights, and Marina complete the power rankings for the best 10 San Francisco neighborhoods.
