Making Long Island Apartments for Rent Safe

Written by Posted On Tuesday, 25 July 2017 17:47

Long Island has a reputation of historically being a safe residential community. Maybe their reputation is changing?

An article from the Wichita Eagle out of Kansas of all places, explains that the New York Senate has reassigned a Task Force to combat the drug problems areas are having, especially with heroin and opioid abuse in the Long Island community.

In March 2014, the New York State Senate Majority Coalition created the Joint Senate Task Force on Heroin and Opioid Addiction to examine the alarming rise in the use of heroin and opioids. After conducting 18 public forums across the state, listening to 53 hours of testimony and speaking with more than 2,000 residents about the tragedy of the state’s heroin and opioid epidemic, the Senate’s bipartisan Joint Task Force on Heroin and Opioid Addiction has just issued a special report, entitled: Solutions to New York's Heroin Epidemic. The report makes legislative recommendations to help address the drug abuse, addiction and drug related crimes in New York that have been claiming lives and destroying families in communities throughout the state. Not sure what the Task Force has been doing for the past 3 years, but they are at it again…this time in Long Island. According to the article, at this week’s community meeting the Task Force is expected to hear from law enforcement officials, addiction experts, health care professionals, and recovering addicts and their loved ones. Lawmakers included more than $200 million in this year's state budget for efforts to prevent and fight addiction.

The Joint Task Force on Heroin and Opioid Addiction is an effort to making Long Island apartments for rent safe. Finding a secure residential community is a wise place to initiate your research.
