Everyone has heard of Brexit in the news recently and is associating it with the recent volatility in the US Stock Markets. What does this mean for US Real Estate?
For those of you who don't know me, my name is Torey (some call me "T") and I help urbanites interested in real estate connect the dot's between what they think they know and what they really need to know to be successful in today's markets. I have a passion for building businesses too.
To dive into it briefly, lets answer a few basic questions:
1) What is Brexit?
It is a shorthand way of saying the UK leaving the EU - merging the words Britain and exit to get Brexit.
2) Why is this significant?
This will cause short term economic volatility because this move can impact everything from passport's to retirement plans, and everything in between for people associated with the United Kingdom or traveling to/from it.
Now we know this information, How will Brexit affect US Real Estate?
1) It is important to know that it does not appear as of yet that US real estate will be affected by Brexit hugely.
2) Brexit will keep US mortgage rates lower for longer
3) As a result of US mortgage rates, property prices may remain higher, for longer.
The most important thing is, now is the right time to buy as long as you are getting the right deal for your needs and are not stretching your budget. There is never a bad time to buy a property that makes sense financially.
