When your garage door won’t close completely, your home can be vulnerable. If your do not know how to resolve the issue, you should immediately call your garage door service technician. If you want to do a DIY repair, you can check for these possible reasons why your door won’t close all the way.
• Misaligned safety sensors. If something is on the way, these will stop the door from closing. There are two sensors located at each side of your garage door. Both should be lit. If one of them is not lit, it senses an obstruction and won’t let the door close.
• Dirty sensor lens. Dust, insects and small objects can stick to the sensors. They will see these as obstructions that will get in the way of the door. Clean the lens with a soft cloth to remove the debris.
• Bent track. The track near the floor might be bent, which causes the door not to close. You need the help of an expert to make the necessary adjustments.
