If you notice that your garage door is struggling when it opens and closes, you might have a condition that is unsafe. Your door is supposed to operate smoothly, even the ones with older systems.
You can try to manually operate your door to see if it still opens and closes awkwardly. If it still does, the spring system might be out of balance. This can also be dangerous for other components for it might cause premature wear and tear. It is still best to hire a professional garage door repair technician to do the work because garage doors can be dangerous.
If your door is running smoothly and you don’t want this to happen, there are things you can do to maintain it. You can spray lubricant on a towel or cloth and wipe it on the surface of the spring. Do not forget to lubricate the rollers and hinges as well.
