Whether RV travelers are looking for warm desert landscapes or waterfront campsites, Arizona offers some of the country's best options in both. A new nationwide analysis from StorageCafe ranks the state among the nation's top RV destinations, with four cities earning recognition across the Sun Belt and lake and river categories.
To identify the best RV destinations in the U.S., StorageCafe analyzed 71 destinations across five travel categories, evaluating campground quality, on-site amenities, internet connectivity and local livability.
Desert and Sun Belt destinations
- Yuma ranks among the nation's top year-round RV destinations, boasting 43 campgrounds, the highest total in the category and one of the largest campground networks nationwide.
- Apache Junction also ranks among the country's leading desert destinations, offering 24 campgrounds, the sixth-highest total overall, giving RV travelers plenty of options within easy reach of the Superstition Mountains.
Lake and river destinations
- Lake Havasu City ranks as the nation's top lake and river destination for RV travelers, combining a strong campground network with full hookups, clean air and excellent retail access.
- Bullhead City led all 71 destinations in on-site amenities, reflecting broad availability of full hookups, showers, laundry facilities and other conveniences that make extended RV stays more comfortable.
The findings underscore Arizona's appeal as an RV destination throughout the year, offering travelers highly rated campgrounds and well-developed infrastructure whether they're exploring the Sonoran Desert or camping along the Colorado River.
