Ask Denise: Tactfully Marketing to Sensitive Niches

Written by Posted On Monday, 01 August 2022 00:00

Q: “Denise, I just went through a divorce. It was brutal and now I want to help others in the same position. I want to help people take a much more collaborative approach to deciding what to do with their real estate assets. Do you think this approach is unrealistic?”

A: Not at all. Divorce can already be difficult enough without others creating an adversarial environment. I commend you for wanting to make the experience collaborative.

I would suggest that you use that message on any marketing you do. Maybe even provide a tagline for this niche market that you include on any letters you send out, whether to lawyers or people who have filed in court. Outline the different ways you can help, from determining value to connecting with lenders to help with that next step, or even finding a temporary rental. The language you use on these communication pieces needs to feel supportive and service-based, not sales-based.
