Your Computer Can Drive You Crazy

Have you ever bought a computer that just drives you up the wall . I have. This usually happens when I don’t read the reviews on a computer. I just check the specs that  this particular laptop has. After working with computers for so long, I feel that whatever did not work for someone else will be fine for me. This is my first mistake. It is known as an error of arrogance.

That is the only way I can explain it. When I order a laptop that has 30 reviews and it gets 2 stars out of 4, I have a problem. I buy it anyway. When I get it, it will work fine. I normally do not have any issues. Some of the yellow flags, I keep to myself. For example, I like laptops that have the left and right click on the keyboard. My most recent laptop does not. I just work through it. I bought a mouse. I don’t want to use the mouse.

Even after adjusting the display settings, my display is less bright than it is without being plugged in. I just get over it. Since I do 95% of my work via computer, the only issue that actually bothers me is if it is not working. I have a backup desktop. It only has a few of the software programs that I run. Most of them only have one license. I have to keep my laptop working. I am fortunate to have an 18 year old son that is pretty handy on the computer. If he doesn’t know how to do it, I normally do.

This works for everything except the motherboard and the power supply. When these issues occur, I end up going back to the manufacturer or the purchase location. This rarely happens. Fortunately, I buy all of my electronics online. By doing this, I have computer filed copies of all of the receipts. One of the companies I deal with are great with returns.  They will give me a new laptop with no questions asked. This works great unless they are sold out of the laptop that I want.

I have also started to buy additional warranties that support the kids spilling soda on the laptop or the laptop falling off the roof of the car. So far, the laptop has not fallen off of the car roof.
