Students are given an opportunity to purchase a breakfast each morning. The Food Department puts together bagged meals for students to pick up in the cafeteria. Meals may be picked up each morning between 8:15 AM and 9 AM. Students who attend Cooke at one of the other schools may have breakfast delivered to their classroom instead of having to pick it up in the cafeteria. Students with food allergies should have their food ordered ahead of time for the week. Students with other food needs, such as chopped or ground, do not need to be ordered ahead of time.
The Community Based Instruction program is one of the backbones of the educational plan for Cooke School. Students use one of two buses to go into the community and learn skills such as ordering food at a restaurant, standing in line, filling a list, and other social experiences. They also have an opportunity to participate in on the job training for vocational skills.
