When winter is creeping in close, you already know what to expect - it’s going to be bleak and dreary for the most part, and the chances of going outdoors are slim. You will need to have a well-designed winter sunroom to lift your spirits throughout this period, and some of the tips we share below might be easier than you expect it to be.
Choose One Decoration Theme and Stick to It
The overall appearance of the sunroom is key to how comfortable your sunroom will be. When you are planning the layout of your sunroom, you should select certain textures and colours, and then stick to it.
As an example, you can opt for light brown furniture to complement the comfortable rattan chairs that you see as the highlight of your sunroom.
Design for Comfort
Do you have a couch or a chair that you like more than the others? Place it in the sunroom during winter to enhance your winter sunroom experience!
You can also decorate your sunroom with throw pillows, beanbags, or even a hammock to ensure that this room is as cozy as possible.
Don’t Forget the Power Sockets
Remember that the primary purpose of a sunroom is to be able to keep you comfortable throughout winter. With that in mind, you are going to need a few power sockets for any electronic appliances that you have in this room!
These power sockets can be used to power your lamps, heaters, or even to plug in your phone charger. Place at least one power socket near your sitting area for a more comfortable experience.
Optimise the Sunroom Lighting
A sunroom will not be complete without some lighting, natural or otherwise. If you have just started planning to build your sunroom, try to include tall glass windows to allow the entry of as much sunlight as possible.
You can also choose to bring more lighting into your sunroom by equipping it with different types of light. Choose between standing lamps, ceiling or wall fixtures to go with your room’s furnishing style.
Create a Reading Space
You don’t need to have one full bookshelf extending from the floor to the ceiling, but you can have a small shelf or rack filled with a few of your favourite books.
You can even make your reading corner cozier by placing a coffee table right by the couch. If you don’t have much use for a reading space, you can replace this with an office extension instead.
Keep the Room Looking Fresh with Plants
Decorate your room with plants to give your winter sunroom a natural look. Succulents may be an excellent choice to plant and nurture for the cold temperatures. Alternatively, you may consider planting plants such as tiger lilies, hibiscus, orchids and other flowering plants.
You can also consider potting your plants in the highest quality custom made GRC planters if you want to be more creative with decorating your sunroom. These can add that perfect finishing touch to your sunroom.
Pay Attention to the Smaller Furnishing Pieces
You have chosen the couches, lighting and tables that you want to decorate your sunroom with. However, you should not neglect the other decorative pieces that may seem trivial to you!
Top your sunroom design off with a big rug to make this room appear even cozier than it already is. The carpet should be big enough to cover the sitting area and have a design or colour that matches the rest of the room.
