Step 1: First of all you should extend the blinds to their full length by pulling down its string. Now close the dowel completely by turning it on the side of the blinds. It will allow the slats of the blinds lay down flat on the ground, when placed on it.
Step 2: Now blinds should be removed from the fixtures situated on the window’s top corner. After removing the blinds for the window, they should be laid down on the floor. You should lay down old newspapers on the floor before laying down the blinds to protect your floor, if moisture is dripping down from them. Instead of laying down the blinds on the floor inside your home you can also lay them on cement floor outdoor.
Step 3: Now fill 2 pints of cold water in a bucket and add 2 teaspoons of traditional salt used on table and mix it well. Now take a paper towel and dip it into the mixture. The towel is squeezed to take out water dripping from it.
Step 4: Now wipe each blind individually with the damp paper towel. But you should be careful as the slats of the blinds should not bend while wiping them. You will have to wipe the paper towel again and again to remove smoke stains from it, depending upon the thickness of yellow smoke stains on the blind.
Step 5: Now take dry paper towels to wipe dry the wet blinds. You can also allow your blinds to dry in sun if you have laid it down out of your home.
Step 6: After drying the blinds you should turn them over to repeat the entire process again on its other side. While cleaning the blinds from other side you should take fresh paper towels at every step to complete the process similarly. But be careful, water should not be dripping from your paper towel as it can wet the other side of the blinds again. Dry the second side of the blinds to complete the process.
Step 7: Thus after cleaning the blinds from both the sides you should lift it from the floor to fix it on your windows. The top of the blinds should be inserted into the fixtures on the top of the window. Your blinds are ready to open and close as usual.
