The very first thing you should consider when thinking about purchasing new windows for your home is your home’s needs. Windows are always going to be a very integral part of every interior and exterior design, and so you’ll want to better understand where you want which windows and how you can replace certain windows with other types.

Each home is unique and different and so should its window treatments, and we’re very fortunate to have partnered with Best Salt Lake City Windows to help us create this list of the most popular types of windows that are being used right now in 2019.

By going through this list you’ll get a much better concept of what could be utilized in your home as new window treatments or replacement windows.

Double-Hung Windows

This is a great type of window for areas of a home like a kitchen or bedroom where you want to be easily able to open them up and let in some fresh air! They have two sashes that slide up and down within the frame, and there are several different options. They stay in the frame, but can be opened either outwardly or up and down.

But with a double hung window you can move both the top and bottom parts, so you have a little bit more of an aesthetic look, and functionality!

Casement Windows

These windows are the ones in which you turn a crank to open them up by a hinge. It doesn't which side you hinge them too, and they’ll always open outwardly. They also tend to be pretty large windows, so they let in a lot of natural light!

Awning Windows

These windows are actually hinged from the top and they usually open up outwards so that they can let in air from a certain part of the window that is optimal for where it is in your home. These openings can be installed in a whole bunch of different spots on the window, but they definitely are really nice because you can have really large windows that at least open up slightly to let some fresh air in.

Picture Window

The whole idea behind this popular window type is that they will let in the maximum amount of light and views from outside. There is no opening with this type of window because it’s stationary.

Transom Window

These are a unique type of window that typically are pretty narrow, and they can either let air in or be stationary. Sometimes they are stationary and are mounted above doors and other windows in order let in a little bit more light.

Slider Windows

These windows will glide around a track or slide, but they’ll always have at least one window that operates and moves over or past the other windows next to each other. These can mostly be found in modern homes and they do a great job at looking great and letting in an adequate amount of air at the same time.
