Quick Home Makeover on a Budget: 3 Things That Will Help You Sell

There's nothing worse than coming home at the end of a long day to a house that feels… soul-less. When you're tired of your house, you're stuck! How can you recharge your batteries over the weekend if your house just makes you exhausted? Will your budget allow for a quick spruce-up of your house? Never fear, your budget will be fine. Your house and all the stuff in it needs refreshing, not replacing.

Clutter

Clutter is a huge problem for people who are tired of their décor. If stacks of magazines are in your way, donate or recycle them. If you've read them, they can go. The same rule applies to newspapers you're never going to read, books you started and don't think you'll finish and coupons you meant to clip. To help with unwanted papers and ads sitting around, consider couponing online. Instead of having Target’s coupons sitting in the corner on the counter, go online and use Discountrue Target coupons when needed.

Painting

The nice thing about painting is that you have to move everything inside your house, but you don't have to borrow or rent a truck to relocate anything. Move furniture away from the baseboards and wipe them down with your favorite cleaner. Tape the tops of the baseboards to protect them from drips, lay down an old shower curtain or sheet and roller a fresh new coat of paint on your tired old walls.

Second-Hand Stores

Take some time to stroll through your local second hand stores and use your creative abilities. Refinishing some of the furniture and fixings from a thrift store can be much cheaper than buying new. A dreadful painting may have a beautiful frame. A beat-up wicker chest can with a little spray paint and a cushion can become a window seat with built-in storage. A large scarf or shawl may be too big to wear, but can be draped over a chair or a side table to give just the pop of color you need in a room.

Giving a home a quick makeover is something can be done with a little amount of money. Getting rid of unwanted items can help free up space. Giving a wall or an entire room a fresh coat of paint can give it a much different and comfortable feel. Before buying new furnishings, try out a local thrift store to see if something you like can be simply refinished to match your home.
